Reunion 2004

FIRST CHARLES BERRY REUNION A GREAT SUCCESS

Thanks to the orginaztional skills of Mac Christy we had a great first reunion. Attendance was not what we had hoped for, but for those who were able to make the trip to Lawrence, Kansas, they had a great time.

On Tuesday, arrival day for most of our crew, Mac welcomed and registered everyone and directed us to the Hospitality Room. It was a joy to meet old friends and shipmates and their families. The following from Mac Christy who can say it better than I:

Shipmates and Families:
The recent reunion held in Lawrence Kansas was a resounding success! There is nothing to compare with the experience of being with your shipmates who come and go, but shipmates are forever!

We truly missed those that could not come, and those who have been called to the staff of the Supreme Commander. At the reunion, it was decided to continue on as a group or association, and hold another reunion next year. We urge all of you to attend and to include family and grandchildren, etc. Widows and children/grandchildren of deceased shipmates are urged to attend.

There were many highlights at the reunion, including the historic tour and just the chance to sit down and spin some "sea stories" with shipmates. Ned Nolte and Jim O'Keefe (our musical mariners) was icing on the cake!

Don Avant and Ned Nolte will host an encore reunion in Dallas! Please mark your calendar for late October, early November 2005 and plan to attend the reunion in Dallas.
